Belief is the Key
I don't know if you have the same struggles with marketing as I did – what should I do first? Is what I am doing right? Will any of this stuff work? Argh! Yeah, I'm sure I'm to the only who felt this way (he sez with a grin). Here's the point – no one has any trouble...
What If Everything You Thought You Knew About Government Money Was Wrong?
Understanding how money really works might change the way you see the economy—and the world around you.
We hear it all the time:
“The government is running out of money!”
“Our grandchildren will have to pay off the national debt!”
“The federal government needs our taxes to pay its bills!”
But what if these familiar statements don’t tell the whole story?
What if the way we’ve been taught to think about government money is fundamentally different from how our modern monetary system actually works?
That’s where Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) comes in.
And once you understand some of its basic ideas, you may never look at economic headlines quite the same way again.
Economics Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated. Or Boring.
Let’s face it. Economics can sound intimidating.
Deficits. Inflation. Government debt. Interest rates. Monetary policy.
It’s enough to make anyone’s eyes glaze over.
But behind all that economic jargon are surprisingly simple—and fascinating—questions that affect our everyday lives.
Why can the federal government create dollars while the rest of us have to earn them? Does the national debt really work like a household credit card? Where does money actually come from? And what really limits government spending?
These are the kinds of questions we’ll explore together.
No complicated formulas. No economics degree required. Just plain-English conversations about how our monetary system works.
So, What Exactly Is Modern Monetary Theory?
Modern Monetary Theory is an approach to economics that examines how money, government spending, taxation, and public debt operate—particularly in countries like the United States that issue their own sovereign currencies.
One of MMT’s central insights is that the federal government operates under very different financial rules than households, businesses, or state governments.
Unlike you and me, the U.S. federal government is the issuer of the U.S. dollar.
That distinction has some remarkable implications for how we think about federal spending, deficits, taxes, and the national debt.
But here’s something important:
MMT doesn’t argue that government spending has no limits. It asks us to understand what the real limits are.
Those limits include inflation, available workers, productive capacity, and the actual resources our economy can provide.
MMT offers a different framework for examining these issues. Some of its conclusions challenge conventional economic thinking, and economists continue to debate its policy implications.
Whether you ultimately agree with MMT or not, understanding its ideas can make you a much more informed participant in conversations about our economy.
And that’s exactly why I created this podcast.
Introducing Modern Monetary Theory Explained Simply
One Interesting Question. Nine Minutes. A Whole New Perspective.
Welcome to Modern Monetary Theory Explained Simply, a short, friendly video podcast where we explore Modern Monetary Theory one question at a time.
Think of it as sitting down with a friend over coffee and asking:

That’s the spirit of Modern Monetary Theory Explained Simply.
Each episode takes one intriguing question about money or the economy and explores it in everyday language, using relatable examples and a little common sense.
No political shouting matches. No confusing academic lectures. No assumptions that you already understand economics.
Just an opportunity to question what we’ve always heard, discover something new, and become a little more economically informed.
What Can You Expect?

- About nine minutes. Short enough for a coffee break, but long enough to learn something meaningful.
- Real-world examples. We connect economic concepts to familiar experiences and current issues.
- A welcoming perspective. You don’t have to agree with MMT—or with me—to enjoy the conversation.
- Something to think about. Every episode leaves you with a fresh question or a different way of looking at the economy.
Why Should You Care About MMT?
Because economics isn’t just something that happens on Wall Street or in Washington, D.C.
It influences the cost of living, employment opportunities, retirement security, public services, and the decisions our elected representatives make every day.
When someone tells you the government “can’t afford” something, wouldn’t it be useful to understand what that actually means?
When politicians argue about deficits and the national debt, wouldn’t you like to separate economic realities from political talking points?
And when you hear conflicting explanations about inflation, wouldn’t it help to understand the underlying forces involved?
You don’t have to become an economist. You just have to become curious.
That’s what Modern Monetary Theory Explained Simply is all about.
Let’s Keep the Conversation Going
A Little Curiosity Can Change the Way You See the World.
I believe understanding our monetary system shouldn’t be reserved for economists, politicians, or financial professionals.
It should be accessible to everyone.
That’s why I’m making Modern Monetary Theory Explained Simply: to turn big economic ideas into friendly, thought-provoking conversations that anyone can enjoy.
So grab a cup of coffee, choose an episode, and join me.
You might be surprised by what you discover.
